Progress Update: August 25, 2025 – First Grid Imaged

The installation of our new cryo-electron microscope at Newcastle University has reached a significant milestone. The system is now fully insulated with SF6 gas, With the microscope powered up, the electron beam was successfully turned on.

Here is the first picture of an empty grid taken with the Tundra at our facility!

Next steps are to estimate resolution with gold particles grid and install the magnetic field cancelling system (mid-September no date yet).
